The Asian Indigenous International Network (AIIN) is a regional network of indigenous organizations and communities, with its headquarters based in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was founded in 2018 with the goal of promoting the rights and interests of indigenous peoples in the region and working towards their self-determination and empowerment.
AIIN has a broad network of indigenous organizations and communities across Nepal and worldwide, including in countries such as Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. The organization collaborates with other indigenous networks and institutions globally, such as the International Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self-Determination and Liberation and the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
AIIN's activities include research and advocacy on issues affecting indigenous peoples, such as land rights, resource governance, cultural preservation, and political participation. The organization also conducts capacity-building workshops, training, and exchange programs for indigenous leaders, youth, women, and traditional knowledge holders to strengthen their skills and capacities in various areas, including advocacy and leadership.
The organization works to facilitate communication and collaboration among indigenous communities and organizations, as well as with national and international institutions and networks.
AIIN's mission is to strengthen the voices and capacities of indigenous peoples to assert their rights to land, resources, and self-determination, and to promote their cultures, knowledge, and languages.
